Next October 31st it will be celebrated the 500 years after the publication of the 95 theses of Martin Luther. On the eve of All Saints, he stuck some sheets of paper in the church of Wittenberg. Luther shook the foundations of European culture, defending the return to the Scriptures and claiming them as the sole source of religious knowledge. It was the beginning of a revolution of profound consequences in the being of Europe. The denial of scholasticism and opposition and the frontal challenge to the Pope of Rome dismembered in a religious schism that would mark forever Europe. Lyndal Roper says very well in his book “Martin Luther”, which I bought a few weeks ago.
